Snap Caps are an essential tool for protecting your firing pins from damage and wear. When storing your gun it is always a good idea to fire it with snap caps in place of cartridges, this takes pressure of components that would otherwise be cocked without damaging your firing pin. They are also very handy when testing operation of your firing pins and ejectors.
